Vohra, Rachna

Vohra, Rachna Bio

Rachna means Creation in Sanskrit, so poet and writer Rachna Vohra never denied this as her fate. Born and raised in Montreal, she writes poetry, spoken word, short stories, and children's books, and is working on a novel.

Her published works include The Distance Within and The Acorn and the Caterpillar; and her poetry has been featured in The Pedestal Magazine; Cahoots Magazine; and Inscribed magazine, where her poem "How To Set the Price of Leaves" was voted favourite of the issue. Her work was also selected to appear in two anthologies, Beyond Memories and Poetry Ink, and she has performed at various spoken word events in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Montreal.

She has recently begun exploring her South Asian heritage, as well as experiences of the feminine through her writing, and she is passionate about colouring outside of the lines drawn, accepted, and perpetuated by society.

Rachna works full-time as a Technical Writer and Editor in Montreal, and also runs her own company, S'Apostrophe, on the side. She works as a freelance writer and editor for a variety of magazine and zines, and does regular editorial work for various publishing houses.
