About RAEL DA RIMA
Rael da Rima has been in the RAP world for ten past years. But his musical history began long before that. Son of a multi-instrumental father and a singer mother, both self-taught, he’s been influenced by Djavan, Tim Maia, Caetano Veloso, Jorge Benjor, Bob Marley and Racionais MCs, and he’s been going through that way little by little. At the age of 11, he started singing Racionais’ songs. At 14, he played maracatu using samba drums from his elementary school. At 16, he wrote his first song. At 22, a cousin made him play the guitar and his songs were enriched, created from the melodical inspiration, even before becoming rhymes. A good sample of his authorial trade can be found on his very first melodical composition “Vejo Depois” (2005), which can be heard on the documentary that is part of the “Global Lives” project, by David Evan Harris. Rael is one of the ten people who, living in different places around the world, in real adversity circumstances, has his routine “filmed” 24 hours by that project (the trailer can be seen in the link written in the end of this text). Born in the south zone of São Paulo, Rael da Rima has launched two records with Pentágono, has participated in works with great names of the national rap (like Sombra, Kamau, Emicida and Slim Rimografia) and was invited to take part in a very selective group of artists in a TV show called “Som Brasil – Homenagem a Vinícius de Moraes”, shown in 2007 – he has made new versions of classic songs written by Vinícius de Moraes. Rael has sang and rhymed with singers/MCs such as Terra Preta and Criolo Doido, along with Marcel Baden Powell playing the guitar. Marcel Baden Powell is the son of Balden Powell, who was Vinicius de Moraes's partner in the very famous record “Os Afro-Sambas”, 1966. The three rappers were the only artists who were invited to create new verses to songs written by the “Canto de Ossanha” author (lyrics by Vinícius and Toquinho; music by Baden Powell), one of the three songs interpreted by Rael/Criolo/Terra during the TV show, besides “Samba da bênção” and “O Morro não tem vez”. Rael has also participated in a TV series, “Antonia” 2007, directed by Tata Amaral. In July, he’s launching his first single, “Trabalhador”, a mix of reggae and rap. His first album is expected to be in the shops by the end of 2009. In his gigs, Rael plays along with Muka Batera (drums), Bruno Dupre (solo guitar), Xandola (base guitar) and Rafael da Costa (bass).

À propos de OBSESION
OBSESION is a pioneer Cuban Hip Hop group born on June 25, 1996 with the purpose of making hip hop a solid musical genre inside Cuban culture. Now part of the vanguard of Cuban rap music; their lyrics define Cuba as a social being, and their texts range from love-in all its dimentions-to the most polemic of social and political issues. Comprised of husband and wife duo, Magia (MC) and El Tipo Este (mc and producer), Obsesión perfectly represents the revolutionary couple as equals in marriage, career and life. Their well defined sound has caught the attention of many across the world, allowing Obsesion the priviledge of performing in the UK, France, Venezuela, Canada and the US. In 2003, they embarked on a month-long tour of the United States, culminating in a histoical performance at the infamous Appolo theatre in New-York City, where they collaborated with The Roots. Obsesion also works on a social level with various community organizations in Cuba with whom they have held workshops in different cultural centres and jails. They are currently working on their third album, which promises to be an undeniable landmark not only in the Cuban music scene but also on an international level.
