GLOBAL COMMUNITY EVENT
Dix Mille Villages NDG (5674 Monkland) is having a "Coffee House" event to celebrate Fair Trade Weeks. The store is all about global community and supporting artisans in developing countries. This year the theme of Fair Trade Weeks is environment. They are looking for actors, comedians, musicians, poets and spoken word performers who would like to contribute their talents for 8-10 minutes to this event. The venue is quite small so ideally artists should be able to perform without amps, mikes, etc.
All artists will be able to plug their upcoming events and display flyers or business cards and/or sell publications, CD ' s, etc. of their work at the event to promote their own careers.
The date is: Friday May 9th between 8 and 9:30 PM.
A little background: Dix Mille Villages is a chain of Fair Trade stores whose employees (except for managers) are all volunteers. They don ' t buy paid advertising either but rely on word of mouth and events such as this to promote their outlets. All the products they sell are made in co-ops around the world where the artisans are paid directly & fairly for their work and in turn, their incomes are able to improve the conditions of their homes, families and communities.
If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact: Barbara Ford at ygraine7@videotron.ca or (514) 342- 7936.
